Probably not. They'll claim that you didn't install it right.
Take it back to them and explain what happen. Hopefully they see they are at fault.
The wrong memory usually cause the computer to beep, and not work until it is removed. It also burns the memory out usually. Are you proverb you took your card out of the computer, into the store, and asked for one exactly the same? Or did somebody share you what they thought you needed, you wrote it down, and went and asked for that? Just guessing, but computers don't usually smoke from memory card change, theres isn't a lot of voltage or current to wreak it unless something gets shorted out. Was the computer bad and unplugged when you put the memory in?
