I'm pretty sure that the Mac OS can simply work with Mac compatible hardware. That's why it is so expensive to fix a Mac's hardware and to upgrade a Mac.
No, OS X simply runs on Apple hardware. OS X is not for sale separately, it's included near a Mac.
